Top 4 Tricks to Stick to Your Budget

Written by Published in Success

Whether you’re trying to pay down debt, save for a dream vacation or beef up your nest egg, having a budget is a vital part of the plan. Making a budget is usually a pretty straightforward process but actually following it tends to be a bigger challenge.

Are you financially independent? Do you have enough money to cover your basic needs and have some to save for the old age?

You need money to buy your needs and wants. You cannot be happy and achieve peak performance unless you afford to buy your basic needs.

How do you ensure you are financially stable to have peace of mind?

  • Have a clear financial strategy
  • Be a master of your own life. Write down what it is you want to achieve in in line with your guiding values or personal credo. Set your own agenda and work consistently towards your target in line with your values.

If you lack clarity about your definition of success, how will you know when you make it?

Let’s set the record straight – you must invest money in order to succeed. Your choice of business and entrepreneurial acumen will determine your profitability and future success.

Every business has its own shortcomings and limitations. You must do homework to ascertain the impediments to your business. Is it capital or markets? Assuming you had Ugx. 5m in your bank account, which business would you invest in?

There are many businesses you might consider investing in– stocks, treasury bills, real estate, mobile money agency, eatery, consulting outfit or farming. Your choice must be influenced by your availability, capital requirements and the initial marketing involved.

Once in a while, I come across great inspiration on the net. A friend this morning forwarded me the following words in an email. I don’t know real, so pardon my failure to make appropriate acknowledgments.

The message contains a powerful message of parenting, friendship and love.  Even if you don’t read anything else today, the following message will indeed change the way you look at people. And hey, if you can build relationships, respect colleagues, the world is yours to conquer.

Now why not take just two minutes to read the following message and change your life. Below is the powerful message for your success:Love-You-Dad-on-Car

Article in brief

  • Looking after kids is a hard task indeed. Your parents did agreat jobfor you.
  • Theaverage ageof having a first born in Uganda is about 30 for men and 27 for women. This is high. You will be 47, when your kid is joining University.
  • Career andfamily background, are some of the reasons for the delay in marrying. The argument is once you marry, your family takes priority. People delay marrying to ensure they first help their siblings and parents as once they get children; it becomes difficult to look after anyone else. Plus some women are bad that they won’t take it seeing their husbandsending money home. And vice-versa.
  • It is your life, it is your choice. Enjoy.

As a parent, I am getting to understandfirst handthat looking after children is one of the biggest sacrifices parents make. Save for the unlucky ones who grew withsingle parentsor no parents at all, you must be grateful to your parents. Either way, you must appreciate your guardians and parents for bringing you up. It is not easy.

Who is a powerful question as it helps you to identify the person responsible the current situation. On the other hand, “why” helps you understand the factors or conditions or events responsible for the current situation whether good or bad.

My experience is that bad leaders tend to ask the question “who” instead of “why” more often, especially during challenges or difficulties. According to Fr. John Mungereza, parish priest of Our lady of Africa Church Mbuya, many Ugandans are fond of the question “who” instead of “why.” They end up fighting each other instead of understanding the underlying factors responsible for the problems they are facing. The question “why” helps you understand what factors helped you perform poorly or succeed.

2014: what is your resolve?

Written by Published in Success

We are a few hours to 2014. It is the time of the year to consolidate your achievements and plan for the new-year.

Many advisers [mentors and coaches] have probably told you to make resolutions for 2014. You don’t need to make resolutions. You need to resolve. Decide, act and never give up.

Don’t say I want to reduce weight.

Resolve to reduce weight by running at least four kilometers, twice a week; and 10 kilometers (MTN Kampala marathon) once a year. My experience is any exercise that does not involve covering some distance is very ineffective as far benefiting from exercising is concerned. Going to the gym is good, but not effective as running or swimming and similar exercises that involve covering a distance.

For that reason, adult games in their bedroom do not count as exercises despite the massive energy that is expended. Reason: no distance is covered in those games.

The recent terrorist attacks call for vigilance and improved physical security. As the Holiday season nears, so are tricksters, fraudsters and criminals waiting quietly to snatch from you that hard earned livelihood.

Keep guard. Below find insights useful to your physical and personal security.

Don’t give up

Written by Published in Success

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” Thomas A. Edison

Getting ahead

Success is a series of trial and error. Don’t associate with people telling you not to persist. Pick your friends carefully.

If someone is less successful than you are, don’t waste your time listening to their negative advice. You may only listen to the less successful if they give you words of encouragement.
