St. Kizito is the patron of our schools that is St. Kizito primary and St. Kizito Secondary school. Here we bring you the life and martyrdom of Kizito.

The youngest of the martyrs, Kizito, was born at Waluleta (for¬merly Bukkanga) near Bbowa in the county of Bulemeezi. As in the case of so many of the martyrs, there has been some confusion about his parentage and ancestry, owing to the ambiguity of the Luganda terms of relationship.
Kizito's real father was Lukomera of the Lungfish (Mamba) Clan, and his mother, who bore Lukomera nine children before she deserted him and died, still a pagan, at the age of forty, was Wanga¬bira of the Civet-cat (Ffumbe) Clan. Nyika, or Nyikomuyonga Guardian of Mwanga's umbilical cord, often said to be the father of Kizito, was his father by adoption only.

St. Charles Lwanga

Charles Lwanga was a Muganda by tribe from Buddu county (Birinzi village) but there are mixed findings about his parents. Some writers say, his parents are unknown, others say Kaddu was his father, and yet others that he was an adopted son of Kaddu.

Charles was chief of royal pages in the king Mwanga's palace. He was baptised by Pere Giraud on 15-11-1885 (the day Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe was beheaded and burnt). After the death of Balikuddembe, Charles became the head of Christians.

He was burnt to death in a slow painting fire under a Ggirikiti tree( Erhrina Abyssinica) at Namugongo where the Martyrs Shrine is standing. He died on Thursday 3rd June 1886 (on ascension day) at the age of about 25.

As he was being burnt, Charles said to Ssenkoole, "It is as if you are pouring water on me. Please repent and become a christian like me".

Lwanga is the patron of youth and Catholic action.

St. Matthias Mulumba Kalemba

St. Matthias Mulumba Kalemba was a Musoga by tribe from Bunya county in Busoga. His biological parents, however, are not known. But his adopted father was; Magatto of Edible or Cane Rat Clan (Musu).

Mulumba was the oldest of all the martyrs because by the time of his martyrdom he was about 50 years old. He was assistant to county chief of Ssingo called Mukwenda.

He was baptized on 28 May 1882 by Pere Girault.

Mulumba died the most brutal and longest lingering death of about 3 days (from the afternoon of Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th May 1886). His limbs were cut off from his body, strips of flesh were cut from his back and left to die at Old Kampala.
