Father John Scalabrini of Biina Parish passed away this Tuesday morning at St Francis Hospital, Nsambya in Kampala, where he was admitted last week on Thursday.

He had been battling with cancer of the bones for about four to five years and had just returned from Italy two months ago where he normally went for treatment.

Father John was the Founder of Radio Maria, Bishop cipriano kihangire SSS Luzira, Bishop Cipriano Primary school kitintale. St Bruno Catholic church, St James Bbiina church, EMAUS FOUNDATION that pays school fees for needy children, St James Vocational school. He had intentions of building Bishop Cipriano University. He sponsored many students mainly those who were affected by the LRA war. He was once accused of training rebels but was acquitted of the charges after the government realized that he was just rehabilitating and helping former child soldiers to reform and live a better life. Father liked and loved Uganda.

He supported the construction of the Makerere University Business School and Kyambogo university chapels and St. Benedicts Hospital in Luzira. He was running a construction firm that involved in doing projects on semi-charitable terms.

RIP Fr. John

Background
Fr John, born in 1934, was an Italian missionary from Limido Comasco, Italy. He has lived in Uganda since 1964, spending nearly 30 of those years among the Acholi in Northern Uganda where he built schools, and installed flour mills.

In 1969 Fr John became a priest upon the urgings of Bishop Ciprian Kihangire of Gulu, in whose memory he built Bishop Cipriano Kihangire Primary School in Kitintale and Bishop Cipriano S.S.S. in Luzira, a Kampala city suburb. He also founded the non-for-profit Emmaus foundation Uganda to cater to needs in education and health, among other needs.

I have so much attraction to the service of the church which i do so passionately. All my life, i have lived in the service of the Lord especially through singing in Church and this is my passion, I attribute all this to the foundation i got in my Primary school, St. Kizito Primary School which moulded me to love church service. Here, find reflections to improve your faith, I also invite you to join us at Mbuya and praise the lord. You'll love being part of our community.
