• Baptism of the Lord

    Theme: Anointed

Each year, Mother Church offers us an occasion to celebrate the baptism of Jesus which is an opportunity reminding us our own baptism. In the process of rethinking, we have to keep in mind that Baptism is not a final goal, but the beginning of a lifelong process of becoming a Christian.

  • The Baptism of the Lord

    Theme: Fundamental choices.

It is surprising that we celebrate birthdays and other events like anniversaries very well but never celebrate our baptisms. How strange that Christians pay so little attention to their real birthday.  In today's liturgy we celebrate the baptism of Christ. In celebrating His baptism, we celebrate our baptism too and renew its grace within us.

  • The Baptism of the Lord

Being beloved – a foundational message

    Readings: Is 40,1-5.9-11; Ps 104,1-2.3-4.24-25.27-28.29-30; Ti 2, 11-14.3,4-7; Lk 3, 15-16.21-22

The word of God for us on the Feast of the Lord’s baptism presents to us foundational message of being beloved by God. What God says about His only begotten Son is what He says about each one of us. We ought to listen to that life-giving word: You are a beloved son/daughter of God, chosen and favoured! This is the positive foundation with which we are to begin our spiritual journeys.
