The Immaculates!!!!!

Immaculate Conception Choir is one of the 8 choirs of Our Lady of Africa Mbuya Catholic Parish with Immaculate Conception as the Patron Saint. The choir since 2006 has been singing in the one and only 09:30 o’clock Mass at St. Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe Catholic Church Kinawataka although we sometimes sing at the Parish as well.

ICCK is not only a Choir but also a Community Based Organization (CBO) fully registered in 2015 by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Nakawa Division under the Department of Gender and Community Services with Registration Number: NAK/15/148. The Vision of the Choir is “To become a Leading Choir in Kampala Archdiocese Empowering is members Spiritually, Financially and Socially”

The Mission of the Choir is “To Evangelize the Good News through Singing and Bearing the Flag of Jesus Christ in the World”

Major Achievements of the Choir

1. Evangelization through singing: we animate the 09:30 am mass on
2. Our mighty saving group: we started a saving group in 2014 to empower about 30 Choir members Now, we have about 200 members including Christians of our Church and some well-wishers. At the end of every year, we realize a total saving of about one hundred million Uganda Shillings. We thank God for this achievement.
3. Weddings and Carols concerts: we thank the Parish Priest for always giving us an opportunity to animate mass at We also organize carols concerts every year. Resources mobilized from weddings and carols concerts have enabled us to purchase drums, keyboard, projector, public address system, jazz drums, among other items.
4. Popular Mission and Exchange Visits: we have been able to visit places of residence for all our members in Kampala. We have also paid visits to three of our members, we have been deep to the villages where they are born and where they will be We have also visited very many choirs/Parishes/Sub-parishes within and outside the Archdiocese of Kampala. These include; Kibamba, Kiziba, Masaka, Rakai, Zombo and other places.

Challenges

The choir has continued to face the following challenges;

1. Shifting of active members; some of our active members have left Kinawataka to other areas
2. Financial constraints to run choir activities
3. Poverty and unemployment
4. Inability to read and write music

We are always grateful to the support from the Parishioners and well-wishers. Thanks for always answering our calls.

Future Plans

1. Training members to read and write music
2. Acquiring new music instruments like the piano, guitars, saxophones, and other similar instruments
3. Putting in place a sustainable Choir Project.
4. Buying a Choir Coaster
