Welcome to Our Lady of Africa Parish!

We’re glad you’re here! Located in the heart of Kampala, on Boazman Road, Mbuya Hill, our parish is a vibrant Catholic community that’s been thriving since 1960. Our rich history began with the Comboni Missionaries, and we’re proud to have been consecrated in 1970, with a special blessing from Pope Paul VI himself.

As a parish dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Africa, we’re committed to living out the Catholic tradition in four key ways:

– Worship: Join us for inspiring liturgies and prayer services
– Education: Grow in faith through our formation programs and workshops
– Service: Get involved in our outreach initiatives and serve the community
– Outreach: Be part of our mission to spread love and compassion beyond our walls

We’re a parish that values inclusivity, spiritual growth, and community. Whether you’re a long-time member or just visiting, we invite you to experience the warmth and hospitality of Our Lady of Africa Parish. Come, worship with us, and let’s grow in faith together!

Dedication to Mary, Our Lady of Africa

A Symbol of Unity and Hope:
Our Lady of Africa represents unity and hope, transcending cultural and geographical boundaries. Dedicating our church to her celebrates our community’s diversity and shared journey toward peace.

A Model of Faith and Devotion:
Mary’s steadfast faith and humility as the Mother of Jesus inspire us to trust in God’s plan and serve with love. She reminds us to live our faith with the same courage and devotion.

A Source of Comfort and Guidance:
Throughout history, Mary has provided comfort and guidance. By dedicating our parish to her, we acknowledge her presence in our lives and seek her intercession for our spiritual growth.

Join us in our vibrant community, where faith and love thrive!"

The first love of my life was towards the unfortunate Africa, and leaving behind all that was precious to me, I came to offer my services to lighten their burdens.

The Founder

St Daniel Comboni

Daniel Comboni was an Italian Catholic bishop who served in the missions in Africa and was the founder of both the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus and the Comboni Missionary Sisters. Comboni studied under Nicola Mazza in Verona where he became a multi-linguist and in 1849 vowed to join the missions in the African continent although this did not occur until 1857 when he traveled to Sudan. He continued to travel back and forth from his assignment to his native land in order to found his congregations and attend to other matters, and returned in 1870 for the First Vatican Council in Rome until its premature closing due to conflict.
