Parish Day message by our Parish Priest

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, grace and peace to you from Our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we gather to celebrate the 56th anniversary of our beloved parish, I extend to you my heartfelt greetings and warmest congratulations.  Today, we come together as one family of God—grateful for His abundant blessings, both spiritual and material, poured out upon us individually and as a parish community.

This year, the Lord has blessed us in remarkable ways.  Notably, we have been gifted with a beautiful Adoration Chapel where we will perpetually adore the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. This sacred space will nourish our faith and draw us ever closer to Christ in the Eucharist.  We have also opened a modern Parish office, providing space for our ministers and pastoral agents, including the Sabakristu (Head of Laity), and our catechists.

In addition, we now have a modern, clean, and dignified Parish restroom—a small but important sign of our growth and hospitality.  These achievements have been possible through your generosity— your financial contributions, your prayers, and your commitment.  May the Lord reward you abundantly.

Individually, each of us has personal reasons to give thanks—whether for life, health, faith, hope, or the gift of another year.  Parish Day is also a time to acknowledge and appreciate all who serve, in big or small ways, for the good of our parish.  I thank our missionaries, priests, sisters, catechists, and all pastoral agents for your zeal, sacrifice, and dedication.

To the Sabakristu (Head of Laity) leadership and all parish councils, small Christian communities, and ministry leaders—your collaboration and commitment are deeply appreciated. Whether your service is recognized publicly or quietly done in the background, know that God sees and blesses your efforts.

While we celebrate these accomplishments, we also remain mindful of the responsibilities ahead. Some projects are complete, but there are still debts to clear.  With your continued support, I am confident that before the year’s end, we will overcome these challenges together.

This year’s celebration embraces the theme of our Jubilee and diocesan mission:
“As pilgrims of hope, let us journey together in communion, participation, and mission.”

Indeed, we have journeyed together as a family of God—different in background, united in faith, living in harmony and respect.  Our communion is seen in the diversity of groups within the parish working together in peace.  Our participation has been active, with each person playing a role in the life of the Church.  And our mission remains clear: to bring all people to Christ, being His witnesses through our words and actions.

As we look back, we do so with gratitude for the sacrifices and foundations laid by those before us.  As we live in the present moment, may we do so with joy and hope.  As we look to the future, may we trust in God’s providence—that the One who has brought us this far will continue to bless and guide us.

May Our Lady of Africa intercede for us, and may we continue to grow both spiritually and materially, striving to make Mbuya a model parish in the Archdiocese of Kampala.

May God bless you all. May He bless our Parish. May He bless this special day. Happy Parish Day!

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Rev. Fr. James Patrick Jjumba
