As we approach the joyous occasion of the Parish Day Celebrations on this 13th day of August 2023, we, the parishioners of Our Lady of Africa Mbuya Parish are filled with immense gratitude and thanksgiving. Fifty-four years of existence have allowed the seed of the word of God to flourish and bear abundant fruits, enriching our lives and shaping our community in profound ways.
This momentous milestone prompts us to reflect on the remarkable journey we have undertaken together. Over the years, our Parish has witnessed the rise of eminent Christians who have contributed selflessly to the growth and development of God’s kingdom. From devoted lay faithful and dedicated catechists to religious sisters, brothers, and clergy, our community stands as a testament to the power of faith and unity.
As we come together to celebrate, we are reminded of our interconnectedness, embracing all aspects of the Church. Our prayers resonate not only with those blessed in Heavenly glory but also with our brothers and sisters undergoing purification, and with the pilgrim Church, where we stand today. United in one voice, we praise the Lord for His abundant blessings, seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit to continue bearing fruit for His glory and the salvation of His people.
We recognize the challenges faced by many within our community, and it is our duty to stand in solidarity with the vulnerable and marginalized. The compassionate response during the Covid-19 pandemic, exemplified by the establishment of a food bank, stands as a testament to the generosity and kindness that define us as a faith community.
Our diverse cultures have become a source of strength and unity, where Christ has woven us together as one family. As we continue to grow, both spiritually and physically, let us remain steadfast in our faith, trusting that God’s divine plan is at work in us.
Our Lady of Africa, whose protection we are under accompanies us with her maternal care and blessings, guiding us to embrace God’s will in our lives and be authentic disciples of her Son.
We hold much gratitude to all the contributors to this edition, our funders and Parish Partners. May God bless us all, and may His light shine upon us as we move forward in faith and love. May the theme of the day accompany us on our daily cares: “Do not Be Afraid, Rise, Pick Up Your Mat and Walk.” (Mark 2:11)
